Kwentong Sandaan features legends of PH cinema

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is holding a series of vignettes, dubbed "Kwentong Sandaan," featuring legends of the local movie industry.

FDCP, a national agency under the Office of the President, said among the "Living Legends of Philippine Cinema" to be featured on Kwentong Sandaan Gina Pareño, Boots Anson-Roa, Gloria Sevilla, Jose “Kaka” Balagtas, and Leo Martinez.

"Their lighthearted anecdotes will surely make one smile or even chuckle, while their moving stories can get one teary-eyed," FDCP said on its website.

Aside from the Living Legends, FDCP said the other personalities to be featured on Kwentong Sandaan are "icons, luminaries, filmmakers, producers, artists behind the camera, and other unsung heroes of Philippine Cinema as all of them have contributed greatly to the industry."

FDCP Chairperson and CEO Liza Diño said, "This series of vignettes featuring our esteemed veteran actors aims to inspire our stakeholders and reignite our love for Philippine Cinema.”

Kwentong Sandaan is part of the celebration of 100 years of Philippine cinema.

FDCP will officially conclude the celebration of the centennial of Philippine cinema with a virtual concert dubbed "Sine Sandaan: The Next 100" on September 30 at 8:00 p.m.

Among the performers who will headline the concert are Lani Misalucha, Gary Valenciano, The Company, Isay Alvarez and Robert Seña, Martin Nievera, and Lea Salonga with Acapellago.

“Sine Sandaan: The Next 100" will be streamed via YouTube (youtube.com/FilmDevelopmentCouncilPH) and Facebook (facebook.com/FDCP.ph).

Meanwhile, FDCP is also supporting the Philippine movie industry through the "Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino" (PPP) online film festival.

The festival will showcase 100 films online from October 31 to November 15.

PPP will screen the films in an exclusive FDCP-sponsored platform: FDCPchannel.ph.
